Thinking skills

Thinking is a Key Competency in the New Zealand Curriculum.

In Room 8 we are learning to identify our thinking skills (metacognition) and develop our use of higher order thinking.  This will not only help our learning, but give us a better understanding of the world around us.
We are using Bloom's Taxonomy to identify and describe our higher and lower order thinking.  'Remembering' is a lower order skill but you need this skill to help higher order thinking like 'understanding' or 'analysing'.
The signal bars on each thinking skill shows the order (create being the highest and remember the lowest).
Each day we are attempting to identify a thinking skill we have applied to our learning and over time hopefully we will find it easier to identify more thinking involving analysing, evaluating and creating.
